Neck Pain – FAQs
How can physiotherapy help with neck pain?
Our physiotherapists assess the cause of your neck pain, then use a combination of hands-on treatment, targeted exercise and a graded rehabilitation program to help reduce pain and restore movement and strength.
Do I need a referral or a scan before seeing a physio for neck pain?
No referral is needed to see a physiotherapist. Many cases of neck pain can be assessed and managed without imaging; if a scan is appropriate, your physio will discuss it with you and your GP.
How long does it take to recover from neck pain?
Recovery varies depending on the severity and cause. After assessing you, your physiotherapist will give you an estimated timeframe and a clear rehabilitation plan.
When should I see a physio for neck pain?
It is worth booking an assessment if your pain is persistent, limiting your activity, or not improving. Early assessment can help stop a minor issue becoming a longer-term problem.
Can I keep exercising with neck pain?
Often yes, with the right modifications. Your physiotherapist will advise which activities to continue, adjust or temporarily avoid as part of your recovery.
